Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV launch soon in India: What to expect from potential Tata Curvv rival

French carmaker Citroen is gearing up to debut its much-awaited coupe SUV, Basalt, in the first half of August. The model, which made its global debut earlier this year, has been spied testing on Indian roads on multiple occasions and has generated significant interest as a potential rival to the Tata Curvv, another highly anticipated SUV expected to be launched in August. Here, let’s take a look at what to expect from the upcoming Citroen model.
Citroen Basalt: Design
The Basalt will be based on the Citroen C3 Aircross. As seen in the spy shots and a recently released teaser, the Basalt features a sleek, coupe-like roofline. It appears to have adopted a sportier design while maintaining the practicality of an SUV. Several elements of the SUV have been teased already, including the signature two-slat grille finished in chrome, an edgy silver skid plate, and sleek LED headlights. On the sides, the Basalt features chunky-looking large alloy wheels finished in dual tone colours including silver and black. Coming to the rear, the SUV features an integrated spoiler on the boot lid and wraparound LED tail lights.

Citroen Basalt: Engine
Based on the Citroen C3 Aircross platform, the Basalt is expected to borrow its engine as well. This translates to a likely 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit generating around 110 and 205 Nm of torque. This engine will come mated to either a manual gearbox or automatic torque converter.
Citroen Basalt: Expected features
Details regarding the interiors and features haven’t been revealed yet, but the Basalt is expected to have a feature-rich cabin, including a modern infotainment system with a possible 10.2-inch touchscreen and a digital driver’s display. Other notable features might include six airbags, wireless charging, automatic climate control, push-button start and much more.
