You – Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
The You is the entry-level variant of the Basalt and is offered only with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder NA petrol engine paired with a manual transmission. It features 16-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights, fabric seats with ISOFIX mounts, turn indicator mounted on fenders, rear parking sensors, front power windows, 12V charging socket, 6 Airbags, ABS and an electronic stability program (ESP).
Plus (NA engine) Expected price: 9 lakh (ex-showroom)
The prices for the Plus variant are not revealed yet, Plus is the mid-spec variant and comes after the You variant. It gets all the features mentioned above, additionally, it gets 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, LED DRLs, gloss black grille and ORVMs, ORVM mounted indicators, dual-tone dashboard, steering -mounted audio controls, four speakers, 7.0-inch digital driver’s display, Front USB charging port, manual adjustable IRVM, All four power windows, TPMS and height adjustable driver seat.
Plus (turbo engine) Expected price: 10 – 12 lakh (ex-showroom)
The mid-spec turbo variant is also offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. In addition to the NA petrol-equipped Plus variant, it gets LED projector headlamps with fog lamps, front and rear skid plates, sliding armrest, rear USB charging ports – 2, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rear reading lamp and rear defogger.
Max (turbo engine) Expected price: 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom)
Next comes in top-of-the-line Max variant which is only offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. It gets all the features mentioned above, additionally, it gets dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear headrests with additional support, rear seat tilt cushion for under-thigh support (AT), chrome bezel gear knob (AT), boot light, rearview camera and 6 speakers.
The Basalt is the fourth model under the company’s C-Cubed programme following the C3 and eC3 hatchbacks, and the C3 Aircross SUV and will directly go against the Tata Curvv. The Curvv gets two engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol engine options – a 82hp, 115Nm, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit and a 110hp, 190 nm (MT), 205 nm (AT) 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The NA petrol only gets a 6-speed manual option.
