Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Crew‘ has left everyone in a state of surprise as the film managed to get a bigger opening on Day 1 than Salman Khan’s ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’. The film managed to make Rs. 9.25 crore in India on its first day while it crossed Rs 20 crore as its worldwide gross and broke records. ‘Crew’ turned out to be the biggest female-led opening with its worldwide collection!
Meanwhile, on Day 2 which is Saturday, the film managed to make Rs 21.06 crore. Thus, the worldwide total of the film will not stand at Rs 41.13 crore. Meanwhile, the domestic total of two days is around Rs 21 crore. The film is expected to see a jump on Sunday as the reviews are quite positive. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Crew’ may end up having a three-day India total of around Rs 33 crore.
Post pandemic, female oriented films have not been successes at the box office, barring a few like ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘The Kerala Story’ or the recently released ‘Article 370’, hence for the industry, ‘Crew’ sets a good tone and an inspiration for many more movies to come.
At the moment, the film has scope to continue its run over the coming days as there are no big releases until Eid. Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ will release on Eid. But the coming week and the Monday numbers will further decide the fate of the movie.
‘Crew’ directed by Rajesh Krishnan also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma in a cameo.
