Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz are stepping out for a good cause.

The superstar couple made a rare appearance together in New York City at George and Amal Clooney’s second annual Albies, which “aim to shine a spotlight on brave individuals who, at great personal risk, have devoted their lives to justice,” according to a press release.

Walking the red carpet alongside her husband at The New York Public Library on Thursday, Weisz, 53, was radiant in a floor-length gown featuring an abstract black-and-white pattern.

The James Bond actor, 55, looked equally dapper in a midnight-blue tuxedo with wide lapels, a matching bowtie and glasses.

Hosted by George and Amal’s Clooney Foundation for Justice, the second annual Albies (named after Justice Albie Sachs) announced five awards to be presented to individuals and organizations from around the world working in human rights, journalism, medicine and more.

Congolese gynecologist and human rights advocate Dr. Denis Mukwege and Iranian journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi were honored, as well as Ukrainian rights group Truth Hounds, free speech advocacy group the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression, and Thailand’s organization Thai Lawyers for Human Rights.

Also attending this year’s star-studded ceremony were Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, Viola Davis, Julianne Moore, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway, Mary J. Blige, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach and more.

At last year’s inaugural Albies, George told PEOPLE what he loved most about working with his human rights attorney wife to create the event. “We collaborate on everything. We collaborated on twins!” the Ticket to Paradise actor, now 62, said. “But you know, this is an exciting one because Amal’s gotten journalists out of Egypt, out of Azerbaijan, prisons, out of — all over the world, Myanmar.”

The 2022 event was similarly star-studded, attended by guests including Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Dua Lipa, John Oliver, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, among others.

George told PEOPLE that their work on the Albies and with their foundation is something that his wife “happens to be really especially gifted at.”

He added, “My father’s a journalist. I have a great affinity for them — her mother’s a journalist. So it’s really exciting for me when she’s able to get people who are wrongly accused for doing their job out [of prison]. So, for me, it’s just — I couldn’t be more proud of my wife.”

Craig and Weisz first met in 1994, when the young British actors were cast in Les Grandes Horizontales at the National Theatre Studio in London. In June 2011, they tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony, just six months after they’d started dating.

Back in April, the Constant Gardener Oscar winner addressed the possibility of working alongside her husband again one day, telling Willie Geist on Sunday TODAY, “I think we aren’t going to at the moment.”

“I think we really love our private life as a family, and then we go to work separately,” she continued, speaking of her husband, with whom she shares a 5-year-old daughter. (Weisz also has a 17-year-old son, Henry, with ex Darren Aronofsky, while Craig has an adult daughter, Ella Loudon, with ex-wife Fiona Loudon.)

The Black Widow actress told Geist, 48, that she and Craig “really enjoyed that experience” of acting together, “but I think it’s nicer to — it also means we can alternate. So I can stay home with the family while he works, we can swap out. If we’re both doing something at the same time, it’s probably less ideal,” the actress added.
