According to the latest reports, the superhero film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in lead roles, hit the milestone on its third weekend at the box office.It is now the first comic book movie to cross the milestone since Tom Holland’s 2021 film ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the movie entered its third weekend with a collection of an estimated $925 million. In need of just around $37 million from both the domestic and international box office, the film surged past expectations and earned at least $55 million from ticket sales in North American and an additional $60 million from foreign markets over the weekend. This brought in a total of over $1.03 billion by Sunday.
‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ joins Disney’s Inside Out 2 as one of the two films this year to surpass the $1 billion mark. Inside Out 2, another Disney release, remains the top-grossing film of 2024 with a current total of $1.56 billion.
The superhero buddy film, has also checked itself on the list of the highest-grossing live-action movies of 2024, surpassing ‘Dune: Part Two’. It is also poised to become the 11th-highest-grossing Marvel Studios, solidifying its place among the top echelon of Marvel films.
‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is expected to climb even higher in the rankings as it is only half way through its theatrical run.
