Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer Deadpool & Wolverine achieved what very few Hollywood films have been able to do in India. It swiftly entered the Rs 100 club and now has gone to become the 10th highest grossing Hollywood film in India, beating the likes of Vin Diesel’s Fast X and Furious 7, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire and Chirs Hemsworth’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
Deadpool & Wolverine earned Rs 89.9 crore over its first week and entered the Rs 100 crore club after earning Rs 4.25 crore on Friday and Rs 7.25 crore on Saturday. On Sunday the film added another Rs 7.75 crore to its kitty, taking the overall collection to Rs 109.15. With this whopping business, Deadpool & Wolverine has become the 10th highest grossing Hollywood film in India.
The rank was earlier held by Vin Diesel’s 2023 release Fast X, which has earned Rs 108.83 crore at the domestic box office. Fast X is considered to be the penultimate film of the franchise with the final installment releasing in 2026.
Given that no big film is releasing till August 15, it would be interesting to see how far the superhero film goes at the ticket window. On the occasion of Indian Independence Day, three big films are clashing at the box office, namely, Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Vedaa starring John Abraham and Sharvari and Khel Khel Mein starring Akshay Kumar and Fardeen Khan.
Across the globe, Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed more than US $824 million beating the collection of both previous Deadpool films, which had earned US $783 million and US $786 million, as per Variety.
