NEW DELHI: Senior off-spin all-rounder Deepti Sharma and teenage fast-bowler Titas Sadhu made big gains on the back of their fine show against Australia in the T20I series in the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings on Tuesday.
Deepti made notable progress as she climbed four spots to secure the second position in the T20I bowling rankings. Additionally, Deepti solidified her standings in fourth place in the all-rounder rankings.
Deepti’s rating points have reached 723, which proved sufficient to surpass South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba, who is currently at 722 rating points, in the bowling rankings. This reflects a commendable performance by Deepti in the T20I format, showcasing her proficiency with the ball and as an all-round player.
As a result of recent contributions against Australia where she returned with spells of 2/24 and 2/22 in two T20I meetings, Deepti’s all-rounder rating has reached 381. This places her 17 points behind Australia’s off-spin all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner, who holds a rating of 398 and occupies the third position in the all-rounder rankings.
Pacer Titas, who matched Deepti’s four-wicket tally in the ongoing T20I series, has seen a significant rise in the bowling rankings. Titas climbed an impressive 50 spots and is now positioned at 92nd place with 358 rating points.
For Australia, leg-spinner Georgia Wareham also made notable progress in the rankings. She jumped 15 spots to reach the 28th position, accumulating 571 rating points. Wareham’s performance, which included taking three wickets across the two matches in Navi Mumbai, contributed to her rise in the bowling rankings.
In the batting rankings, Australia captain Alyssa Healy re-entered the top 10, leapfrogging compatriot Gardner to a rating of 636. India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana held her fourth-place spot thanks to 77 runs across two innings, while Ellyse Perry’s work in the middle order has led to a two-spot climb to 19th place (590 rating points).
