Sandalwood star Rakshit Shetty, known for his roles and as the owner of Paramvah Studios, has found himself in legal trouble over copyright infringement. The Delhi High Court recently ordered Shetty and his production company to pay a significant fine of Rs 20 lakh for using songs from MRT Music without obtaining the necessary permissions for his movie ‘Bachelor Party‘.
The issue began when MRT Music, a well-known music label, accused Rakshit Shetty and Paramvah Studios of using tracks from the films Nyaya Ellide’ and ‘Gaalimaathu’ in ‘Bachelor Party’ without authorization. Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music, filed a complaint, highlighting that the music was used without proper licensing, leading to a copyright infringement case against Shetty.
As per a report by Pinkvilla the Delhi High Court took note of the situation and issued a notice to Rakshit Shetty and Paramvah Studios after they failed to appear in court. The court also ordered the immediate removal of the social media post in which the production house had defended its actions. The court’s ruling on August 12, 2024, was clear: Rakshit Shetty and Paramvah Studios must pay Rs 20 lakh as compensation to MRT Music for the unauthorized use of their songs.

Despite efforts to defend themselves both in court and on social media, Rakshit Shetty and his team faced a setback. In a social media post shared on Instagram on July 15, 2024, Paramvah Studios claimed that MRT Music had demanded an unreasonable amount for using just a few seconds of music in the film. However, this defence did not hold up in court.
