Delhi Metro Expands UPI Payment Facility Across Entire Network
Passengers now have the convenience of recharging their smart cards or purchasing metro QR tickets using UPI-supported mobile applications on their smartphones. This update comes as the Delhi Metro aims to enhance passenger convenience and provide a seamless digital payment experience throughout its network.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) stated that this initiative simplifies the ticketing process and offers commuters a practical and efficient way to travel. Similar to everyday payment experiences at shopping malls and grocery stores, passengers can now use UPI-enabled mobile apps to make payments, eliminating the need to carry cash or cards.
The DMRC initially introduced the UPI facility at selected ticket vending machines in the Noida and Ghaziabad sections in 2018. With this recent expansion, more than 125 stations in the Delhi-NCR network have been upgraded, and the remaining ticket vending machines will be equipped with UPI within a week.
