The Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has approved a proposal from the excise department to ban the sale of liquor on four specific days for upcoming festivals. These days include Muharram on July 29, Independence Day on August 15, Janmashtami on September 7, and Eid-e-Milad on September 28.
In Delhi, during festivals and election days, the government declares “dry days,” where the sale of alcohol is prohibited. According to the Delhi Excise Rules, licensees are not allowed to sell liquor on these specific days, as determined by the excise commissioner with the government’s approval. However, this restriction does not apply to the service of liquor in certain establishments, such as hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, and government functions.
