A driver in Brampton tried to hide in a field after abandoning his Jeep following a two-car crash.
The collision happened Friday evening in the area of Airport Rd. and Steeles Ave. E., where one vehicle landed in the ditch.
The driver of that vehicle, a red Jeep, fled on foot.
Peel Police set up a perimeter and searched for the suspect who they believed was hiding in a nearby field.
One savvy officer climbed a silo to get a better vantage point and was able to spot the driver.
Peel Police shared details of the capture on Twitter, adding, “We’re committed to keeping our communities safe, and go to many different heights to do so. Literally.”
According to police, the driver of the other vehicle involved remained on scene and sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the Jeep is in police custody. It’s unknown what charges they might face.
This incident follows another multi-vehicle crash in Brampton last weekend, which killed one Brampton man, and injured two.
A 25-year-old Brampton man was arrested on suspicion of impairment.
