Dua Lipa and Margot Robbie Coordinate at the Critics Choice Awards 2024

If you’ve seen Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster hit Barbie, then you likely know all about Stereotypical Barbie and Weird Barbie—but have you heard about Roses Are Red Barbie? That was the trending look on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet tonight, anyway: The film’s co-stars Margot Robbie and Dua Lipa coordinated in romantic looks that both channelled vermillion perennials. Though, don’t call it a matchy-matchy moment; both looks bloomed completely on their own.

Robbie, who has worn a slew of pink looks this past year while promoting Barbie, switched things up in favor of a red-hot design this evening. It was made custom by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, and came complete with an off-the-shoulder silhouette and a trimmed bustline shaped out of fabric petals. Delicately or not, Lipa—who provided “Dance the Night Away” for the Barbie soundtrack—also chose a red floral ensemble tonight. The singer’s look was by Prada and featured a floor-length column fabrication, covered entirely with abstract petal ruching. Combined, they both looked the part of stylish (and coordinated) co-stars.

The duo weren’t the only celebrities potentially inspired by Valentine’s Day less than a month away. Actor Emily Blunt chose a red Armani Privé gown that also featured a shapely rosette on the shoulder. Three’s a trend! Even though it’s the dead of winter, Hollywood is clearly ready for the spring bloom.
