News that Elon Musk’s family has gotten even bigger emerged over the weekend, after Bloomberg reported the tech executive welcomed his 12th child earlier this year.
While confirming the birth of his youngest child in a statement to Page Six on Sunday, the Tesla CEO bristled at the idea he and Shivon Zilis, Neuralink Corp.’s director of special projects, had kept their latest addition a “secret.”
“As for ‘secretly fathered,’ that is also false,” Musk told the outlet in a statement. “All our friends and family know.”
His statement went on to add, “Failure to issue a press release, which would be bizarre, does not mean ‘secret.’”
Musk did not offer details about the sex or name of the child, which is his third baby with Zilis.
The billionaire, who also shares children with singer Grimes and ex-wife Justine Wilson, has openly worried about the idea that declining birth rates pose a serious threat to the world.
After a July 2022 report from Insider unearthed court records that revealed the existence of Musk and Zilis’ twins, he tweeted, “Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces, by far.”
Musk’s new baby news comes at the same time as reports that ex-wife Talulah Riley has wed actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
Riley and Musk married and divorced twice, first tying the knot in 2010 before splitting in 2012.
The couple, who share no children, remarried one year later and called it quits for good in 2016.
