Rakic, 54, worked as an aged care worker and was a mother of two and a grandmother.

Dusan Rakic, aged 50, was found at the scene with injuries to his arms and throat.

He is believed to have been the owner of the Rooty Hill home, and Christine’s ex-husband.

Dusan has now been charged with murder, breaching bail and contravening an apprehended violence order.

The 50-year-old was refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court via audio visual link on Friday.

7NEWS understands Christine had been visiting Dusan when a concerned relative phoned emergency services over concerns for her welfare.

Christine’s family told 7NEWS of their heartbreak.

“She didn’t deserve to die like that, not even an animal deserves to die like that,” relative Lori Formosa said.

Dusan was taken under police guard to Westmead Hospital in an induced coma.

Horrified locals described the “scary” scene to 7NEWS.

“We heard screaming from next door … a woman’s voice,” one neighbour said.

“It’s pretty scary … pretty freaky sort of stuff … I’ve seen him (the man) around but hadn’t really spoken to him,” another neighbour said.
