SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Most of the weekend was just hot and a bit humid at times with little to zero rainfall.
This hot pattern is going to continue into the start of the new week.
In fact we’ll continue to have some heat advisories in effect from noon Monday through 8 p.m. Tuesday:
Now for Monday we actually have to get through the potential for some severe weather as well.
Here is a look at the locations, timing and potential impacts for any one thunderstorm that become severe on Monday:
As the chance for any strong to severe thunderstorms is low, but not zero, you should keep in the back of your mind that any one storm could cause a severe thunderstorm warning.
If you use our Weather Authority App with the notifications turned on you’ll always have the push alerts sent to your smart phone with important information.
Lets look at the timeline for storms moving through our area between now and Monday evening:
After Monday’s storms, it looks fairly likely for a repeat forecast for Tuesday including a relatively quiet morning, then some storms from noon to 8 p.m. with 1 or 2 becoming severe. Any one storm on Tuesday may also contain some damaging wind gusts that could impact a few towns with tree damage or power outages.
Beyond Tuesday and a few more showers and storms Wednesday, later this week a huge area of high pressure is going to dominate the Great Lakes and Northeast.
This system will bring with it cooler temperatures especially for a couple nights going below 60 degrees for the first time in nearly two weeks. We’ll also experience lower humidity and a sunny forecast right into the weekend. At this time there does not look to be any major chances for rain or storms over the weekend as well.
