Explained: Google Pixel Call Screening feature that is said to arrive in India soon

Google Pixel smartphones are loaded with AI features. One of those features is Pixel Call Screening. Launched for select markets, recently, reports suggested that the feature may be coming to India soon and support 10 more languages.
A reddit user claimed to have enabled the Google Pixel Call Screening feature on a rooted OnePlus 7 running on a custom version of Android 14 and downloaded Hindi language package. According to screenshots shared by the user, Google appears to have added English (India) and Hindi (India) to its supported languages list.
What is Pixel Call Screening feature
Pixel Call Screening is an AI-powered feature that transcribes unknown and spam calls in real-time, saving users the trouble of picking up and potentially falling victim to scams. For example, think of it as a multilingual bouncer at your digital door screening callers before reaching you.
Google has two types of Screen Calling feature: Automatic and Manual. There is no information which type of Screen Calling, if it comes, will be available in India.
Call Screen can be set up to screen certain types of callers. Google Assistant asks callers why they’re calling. However, calls from your contacts list aren’t screened. Furthermore, Call Screen detects spam based on what a caller says, or if matched in Google’s database of known spammers and robocallers. A detected spam call is declined without alerting the user.
For calls that Call Screen doesn’t detect as spam, the phone will ring and users will be able to see how the caller responds. After the call, users can read the transcript and listen to the call audio in the “Recents” tab. Google says the Call Screen uses new, on-device technology to keep calls private.
Countries where Call Screening feature is available
The countries where users can screen calls automatically on all Pixel phones include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain, UK and US. Manual Call Screen is also available in the US and Canada on selected Android devices.
