Spanish-language broadcasters Manolo Hernández-Douen and Amaury Pi-González from Bay Area radio station KIQI 1010 AM have openly discussed the protests from fans and expressed their concern about the team leaving Oakland. In an interview, Pi-González emphasized that if the fans were told that the team was being sold, there would be a parade in Oakland. He has been an A’s broadcaster since 1978 and has been calling Spanish-language games for the past decade. Pi-González mentioned that there have been no restrictions on what he can say on air and believes that the tense atmosphere surrounding the team’s potential move may be the reason for this. He shared his disappointment about the possibility of the team relocating to Las Vegas and expressed his criticism towards both the city of Oakland and the A’s ownership, stating that they could have handled the situation in a more professional manner. Pi-González also discussed the size of the market in Vegas compared to the Bay Area and questioned the decision to move to a smaller market. He agreed with fans who choose not to attend games when ownership does not invest in improving the team on the field.
