Dutch teenager Dilano van ‘t Hoff died in an accident at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit earlier this month while racing in heavy rain at a Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA).
The accident was the second fatal accident in four years at the circuit, following Anthoine Hubert’s death in a Formula 2 race in 2019.
The safety concerns were raised by Mercedes driver George Russell, who is also the director of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, after it was forecasted that the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix would be wet throughout. “Obviously, to have a race cancelled is not perfect for anybody. But we don’t want to see a huge incident as we’ve just seen.”
It has also been announced by Red Bull that current World Championship leader Max Verstappen will be taking a five-place grid penalty after exceeding gearbox allowance. If the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix goes as per the schedule, it will be streamed in India exclusively on F1 TV. To catch all the action live, one would need to opt for the more premium F1 TV Pro subscription, which is currently priced at $29.99 for the same period, or about Rs 2,467 in Indian currency. There’s also a monthly plan which is priced at $3.99 (INR 328) for the Pro plan.
