F1 2023: Verstappen dominates Mexican GP practice, tight margin between top 10

For the 20th round of the 2023 season, Formula One heads to the 4.304 km long Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City for the Mexican Grand Prix (currently held under the name Mexico City GP) – the home race for Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. Meanwhile world champion Max Verstappen looks set to extend his winning record after strong performances in free practice 1 and 2.
On the other hand, Formula 1 witnessed one of its tightest fields of the season in Friday practice. Verstappen posted a lap time of 1:18.686s, with just over a half second separating the top 10 in the second practice. As per Formula 1’s race simulation pace, Mercedes was the second fastest team in practice behind Red Bull, while McLaren occupied the third spot ahead of Ferrari.
