An Australian mum has attracted concern from some social media users over an unlikely item in her child’s “healthy” lunch.
Sharing on a popular Facebook page, the mother posted an image of the lunchbox which featured an array of snacks.
The packed lunch included strawberries, an apple, a sandwich, pretzels, yoghurt and other foods.
“Lunchbox for the parent with limited time/energy,” said the mum on the Lunchbox Ideas Australia Facebook group.
“Is it beautiful? No. Is it packaged? Yep.
“Is it acceptable lunch? Yes it is. Brown bread sandwich, yoghurt, fruit, tin of corn, complex carbs.”
However it was the inclusion of the can of corn which sparked concerns from some Facebook users, who believed the “dangerous” tin could cause injury.
“The can that you have is dangerous should be transferred into a Tupperware – tin cuts are like paper cuts only deeper and they really hurt,” one said.
Said another: “Maybe you could transfer the corn into a container and spoon as the tin is sharp?”
Another Facebook user told one critic to “grow up”, saying “don’t bite your finger off while feeding yourself.”
Most of the Facebook users who saw the post were positive about the “healthy” and “well-balanced” lunch.
“Love this! I too am guilty of the too many packaging snacks in my kids’ lunch boxes, but it all gets eaten,” said one.
Added another: “Looks good to me. I also ask kids to bring all packages home so we can recycle from home including soft plastics.”
Said a third: “This lunch looks amazing!”
