Severe thunderstorms passed through our region on Friday evening causing trees to fall, power outages and an airplane to tip over.
Our entire region, except for the Lehigh Valley, was under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. on Aug. 2.
The National Weather Service upgraded our region to a two out of five level of risk for the severe weather.
We saw heavy rain with damaging winds of up to 60 m.p.h.
Some areas reported large hail about the size of a quarter.
There was a chance for an isolated tornado through the evening.
Power outages
As of 9:45 p.m. on Friday evening, just over 1,000 residents in our region are still facing power outages, according to PECO.

Severe storms hit Chester, Montgomery Counties
We’re starting to see damage left behind from these passing storms.
NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Justin Godynick shared a photo from Ray Leichner of a storm that could be seen over Lansdale, Montgomery County, Friday evening.
A viewer in West Grove, Chester County, shared a photo of damage from a thunderstorm that he says brought high winds and loss of power.
In Jennersville, a viewer shared photos of trees down and damage to a car after a severe storm passed through their neighborhood.
A small airplane was knocked over onto its side at the Chester County Airport on Friday.
A viewer shared the photo with NBC10 that shows one of the plane’s blue wings broken on the ground with the wheels in the air.
Be weather aware
Should you be in the path of a tornado warning, seek shelter immediately in a basement of interior room with no windows until the threat passes.
People should make sure to weigh down outdoor furniture and trashcans. You should also be prepared for possible power outages.
