A Buffalo Bills fan’s excitement went off the rails leading up to the team’s home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Erie County sheriff’s officials told the Buffalo News, that in the lead up to the 1 p.m. start, a 29-year-old man told police he had taken drugs, and went inside a portable toilet and came out covered with excrement, before climbing a fence and falling naked into a construction pit — the future home of the new Buffalo Bills stadium.

The man, whose name was withheld, was charged with misdemeanour trespassing. Police said he suffered cuts, including one to his forehead, and was taken to hospital.
Police received a report of a man in distress at 12:18 p.m. by security guards responsible for the area outside the construction site.
As security personnel approached the man, he started running toward the construction site and scaled the fence.

Once inside the construction site, he ran and fell down one level of the pits, police said. Then he got up, ran and fell again, this time to the bottom of the pit.
Sheriff John Garcia said a police helicopter crew spotted the man in the pit, giving a “peace sign” with one hand, while making an obscene gesture with the other.
The entire incident, including his rescue, lasted about 20 minutes, Garcia added.

The man told police officers he was under the influence of LSD, marijuana and cocaine.
Police say the man had apparently been with a group which “abandoned him” while they were tailgating and entered the stadium.
