PLEASANTON — A 41-year-old man and his two sons were identified by the coroner’s office as three of the people killed in a fiery electric vehicle crash last week.
The identification of a woman who also died in the crash, believed to be the wife and mother, is still awaiting official confirmation, the coroner’s office said.
The three identified were Tarun George and his sons, Rowan George, 13, and Aaron George, 9.
They were Pleasanton residents, authorities said.
They were all killed around 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, on Foothill Road near Stoneridge Drive.
Authorities said Tarun George was driving a VinFast electric car, produced by a Vietnam-based automotive company, when it left the roadway, crashed into a tree and caught fire.
Passersby were able to pull three of the occupants from the vehicle and they were pronounced dead at the scene. The fourth occupant died inside the vehicle.
The police investigation into the crash is continuing but speed may have been a factor, authorities said.
The two boys were students at Pleasanton public schools, the older at Thomas Hart Middle School and the younger at Donlon Elementary School.
A vigil for the family held Sunday was attended by hundreds.
“Our hearts go out to our community members who are impacted by this tragic loss. We continue to have support for students and staff members affected by this tragedy,” said Patrick Gannon, director of communication for the Pleasanton Unified School District.
