Director Siddharth Anand reacts to ‘Fighter’ being considered ‘Anti-Pakistan’; says ‘My film speaks against terrorism’
Hrithik and Siddharth’s Fighter released on January 25 this year, to coincide with the Republic day weekend, it was the exact date on which Pathaan had released a year ago.But while Fighter opened to Rs 22.5 crore , Pathaan had opened to Rs 57 crore. This is despite Pathaan releasing on a Wednesday, while Fighter released on a Thursday. On the next day, which was Republic day, Fighter clocked in Rs 39.5 crore, while Pathaan collected Rs 70.5 crore, one of the highest one day collections at the Indian Box Office. At the end of four days, Fighter stands at Rs 118 crore as per Sacnilk, while Pathaan had managed to earn Rs 166.75 in the same number of days.
Coming to Hrithik and Siddharth’s last collaboration War (2019), it released on 2nd October to coincide with Gandhi Jayanti, and earned more than Rs 53.35 crore on its first day and over the next 3 days, it added Rs 75.5 crore, taking the four day total of the film to Rs 128.85 crore, beating Fighter’s collection by about Rs 10 crore.
Monday is going to be an acid test for Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, as it will decide how long the film will run at the box office. However, it faces no major competition till Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Tere Baaton Mein Uljha Jiya releases on 9th February to cash in on the Valentine day weekend.
