Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter’, which hit the screens on the occasion of Republic Day, has been witnessing a downward trend at the box office. On its 13th day, the film added Rs 3.38 crore to its total. Early estimates for day 14 suggest that ‘Fighter‘ has crossed over Rs 182 crore at the box office, reports Sacnilk. At the worldwide box office, ‘Fighter’ has managed to score Rs 301 crore.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter was promoted as an aerial drama and stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Karan Singh Grover and Anil Kapoor in lead roles. The film featured references to 2019 Pulwama attack, 2019 Balakot airstrike and 2019 India–Pakistan border skirmishes.
Siddharth, whose last directorial Pathaan scored big at the box office, recently reflected on the underwhelming box office performance of Fighter. He told Galatta Plus, “Our expectations as makers have become a little unrealistic. I am talking about myself also, having delivered Pathaan just one year ago. We need to keep our expectations in check and align them with the product. Also, it was a working day. Thursday is considered mid-week. For instance, we held a special screening for friends and family on Thursday, and whoever we texted and asked, at least 40% of them asked, ‘Is the show in the evening?’ So, that time, it hit us how will people bunk work or bunk school and come in the morning.”
