Fitbit: Fitbit app goes down in the US, users report missing data, device connection issue

Google launched the Pixel 8 smartphone series along with the Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch which can be connected to the Fitbit app. The Google-owned company which is popular for its fitness trackers also recently launched the Fitbit Charge 6. However, the app that is needed to run the Charge 6 fitness band has been down for users for hours now.
According to a report by 9to5Google, the issue started on October 11 which stopped showing any stats on the app. The report noted that users could only see a blank space when they tried to check their metrics. The device page on the app also showed an error message that said: “You don’t have any connections yet.”
The outage caused the Pixel Watch 2 smartwatches to get connected to the Fitbit app. Meanwhile, the newly-launched Charge 6 became completely unusable as the process is entirely handled in the app.
However, the devices continued to track stats and are expected to sync them over once the backend is restored, the report claimed. More than 3,000 users also reported problems of some kind on Downdetector as well.
How Fitbit reacted to the issue
Fitbit’s support acknowledged the issue by saying: “We’re aware that some customers are experiencing issues with the Fitbit app and we are currently investigating. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, thank you for your patience!”

Fitbit’s community page also had a banner that read: “We’re continuing to investigate the issue affecting Fitbit devices. Thank you for your patience.”
The outage appeared to be a widespread issue and its extended length was particularly notable. As per the rapport, some of the features of the Fitbit app have started to work. For example, stats are already reappearing for some users. However, the device page is not consistently back yet.
