Credit: Instagram/Sam Frost“I have struggled with mental health for all of my life,” she revealed in 2019.“When I was on radio, I was talking about my battles quite publicly.“A lot of people were reaching out to me with similar experiences, and I take my responsibility quite seriously, being in the public eye with young women looking up to me.“I thought, this is the perfect opportunity to create a mental health hub where people can hear like-minded stories and find support networks.“Some people might be too scared and not know where to look.”Sam Frost, Jordie Hansen and baby Ted. Credit: Instagram/Sam FrostWith her sister Kristine, Sam created Believe By Sam Frost, a “safe digital space” for people struggling with their mental health.Speaking to The Morning Show, Sam said: “Nobody talked about mental health 15 years ago,” noting that her mum had struggled with eating disorders.“I was quite embarrassed and I felt shame around it. But my mum is one of the most beautiful and resilient women,” she continued.“If I had the language or the understanding around mental health, I’m sure that I could’ve been a much bigger support for my mum.“I feel like I let her down quite a lot actually, because I just didn’t understand. And instead of talking about it, I felt shame.“We need to normalise the conversations around mental health, and to talk about it like a sore back or a headache.”Sam Frost and her baby Ted.
