Oleksandr Gvodzyk did not waste any time dispatching of his opponent on Saturday night.
The Ukrainian fought Isaac Rodrigues on the undercard of the undisputed super-middleweight world title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo.
In round two of the fight, Gvodzyk landed a thunderous straight right hand cleanly to the chin of his opponent.
Rodrigues immediately dropped to the canvas and while he managed to get back up, he was clearly very unstable and the referee waved off the fight.
This was Gvodzyk’s third win of 2023, having come out of retirement earlier this year.
In 2018, Gvodzyk beat Adonis Stevenson by eleventh-round knockout to claim the WBC light-heavyweight world title.
And a year later he attempted to unify with Artur Beterbiev, but the Ukrainian was knocked out in the tenth and subsequently retired.
But now, Gvodzyk is back and he has looked impressive since returning to the ring, as he goes in search of regaining world titles.
As it stands in the light-heavyweight division, Beterbiev holds the WBA, WBO and IBF titles, while Dmitry Bivol is the WBA champion and Gvodzyk has called out both men, as well as Britain’s highly rated Joshua Buatsi.
