The first details of Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 have been revealed by Epic Games. The Fortnite developer has confirmed that the new season will have a post-apocalyptic theme and will be titled Wrecked. The new season has a May 24 release date on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android. Judging by the image at the top of the page, it looks like the season could tie-in to the recently released Fallout series, or perhaps the new Mad Max film. Indeed, the image appears to show a Brotherhood of Steel helmet from Fallout, so don’t be surprised if it’s an upcoming skin. With Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga launching on the same day as the new season, it’s possible that the post-apocalyptic film franchise could also be included. Perhaps Mad Max or Furiosa will appear as the mid-season Battle Pass skin, or in the item shop throughout the course of the season.
The post-apocalyptic theme also ties into the current end-of-season event involving the sandstorm.
The sandstorm is gradually getting closer to the island, which means its destruction is imminent.
Epic’s official Season 3 teaser also hints at a Mad Max crossover, telling fans to expect a nitro-fuelled dream.
“Our brand-new Fortnite Battle Royale season pulls you into a contested wasteland and lets you live out your ultimate, nitro-fuelled vehicular mayhem dream!” reads the official teaser.
With Mad Max revolving around high-speed chases and vehicular combat, the teaser is another reason to suspect a crossover.
Speaking of Nitro, it looks like the first Battle Pass skin may have leaked ahead of schedule.
As you can see from the FNBRintel tweet below, one of the new Battle Pass characters could be called Nitro.
In the run up to the end of season event, Epic Games is giving fans the opportunity to earn additional Battle Pass XP.
“A Supercharged XP drop has arrived!” reads a Fortnite tweet. “Need a boost to get those last few Battle Pass levels this Season? We’ve got you fam.
“All players have been granted Supercharged XP, granting a bonus when completing many actions that gain XP while playing Fortnite. Drop back in now!”
With just a few days left of the current season, now is the time to level up that Battle Pass and unlock all of the available rewards.
