Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4 Ultimate Doom is about to make its debut on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Android and Nintendo Switch. Featuring the return of Marvel characters and points of interest, the new Fortnite season has an August 16 release date on all platforms. Unfortunately, however, the new Fortnite content won’t be available to play until after a period of server maintenance for Battle Royale, Creative, LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival and Rocket Racing. According to Epic Games, the current Fortnite season will end at 4am BST UK time on the morning of August 16, with downtime beginning shortly afterwards. Based on previous Fortnite seasons, downtime is expected to last for a longer period of time, so don’t expect the game to come back online until around 10am BST, or perhaps even later. Likewise, the 31.00 update file size will be bigger than usual, which means you might need to free up some space to download and install the new patch.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X, alongside a preview about what to expect from Chapter 5, Season 4.
“Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 now ends on August 15th at 11 PM ET, and we’ll go into maintenance for v31.00 shortly after,” reads an Epic tweet.
“To gas through the finish line, all players will have their next three levels of XP Supercharged from August 13th at 9AM ET til the end of the season!”
The new season was actually previewed during a recent end of season event, which confirmed the return of Doctor Doom.
In addition to Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom, the new Fortnite Battle Pass features a Gwenpool skin, as well as War Machine and Peelverine, the latter of which is a Wolverine variant of Peely.
That’s on top of Emma Frost, Shuri and Mysterio, as well as a Captain America version of Jonesy, named Captain Jonesy.
Speaking of the Battle Pass, fans will be able to purchase items from the next BP at some point in the future. While seasonal skins were previously only available with the Battle Pass, Epic is planning to bring these exclusive items to the shop for fans who missed out.
The Fantastic Four will also join the item shop at some point during Chapter 5, Season 4.
As you can see from the tweet above, new points of interest include Castle Doom, Doomstadt and The Raft.
The Train will also make a return, while a Galactus landmark was spotted by eagle-eyed viewers of the trailer.
Various weapons will also be introduced in the season, as well as one or two returning favourites.
There’s Captain America’s Shield, Peelyverine’s Claws and Gwenpool’s Blades, as well as Shuri’s Mythics, Iron Man’s Gloves and the Stark Industries Energy Rifle. War Machine’s Jetpack and Turret will also be included.
Other new weapons include Dual SMGs, a new version of the Sniper Rifle, a new Single-Hand Pistol, the Silent Scar and Heavy AR.
Needless to say, Fortnite Battle Royale isn’t the only game mode receiving new content as part of Chapter 5, Season 4.
Rhythm action spinoff Fortnite Festival will add Karol G to the game as part of the Season 5 Festival Pass.
Epic explains more: “Players looking for Karol-themed items – including the Bichota Season Karol G Outfit, the Bichota Mic, the Bichota 6-String Guitar, and the ‘QLONA’ Jam Track – can purchase the Season 5 Festival Pass Premium Reward Track for 1,800 V-Bucks to start unlocking Karol G rewards with no additional quests required.
A special Karol G playable concert experience is also coming to Fortnite Festival, beginning on Friday, August 23, at 8pm BST.
According to Epic Games, the playable concert is a “five-part visual journey through Karol G’s life and music career”.
Daily Express will keep this article updated with all the new content and latest information, so keep checking back for more about Chapter 5, Season 4.
