Fortnite developer Epic Games is taking the game offline for server maintenance as part of the launch of update 28.10. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 28.10 will be available to download on the morning of January 23. It will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which means you won’t be able to play Fortnite for at least two hours. If you want to know when you can log back into Fortnite, check out the 28.10 server downtime schedule below.
The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, alongside details on when servers will be taken offline for maintenance.
“Nothing to see here…” reads an official Fortnite tweet. “Downtime will start at 4:00 AM ET, with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand.”
For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am GMT, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am.
Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for around two hours.
This means Fortnite should be back online by 11am GMT UK time at the latest.
As you can tell from the tweet, the new update will bring Metal Gear Solid protagonist Solid Snake to Fortnite.
The Solid Snake special skin will be available to unlock alongside a selection of Metal Gear Solid-themed items, and possibly even additional characters in the item shop.
The update will also unvault a selection of items, all the while introducing new Augments and gameplay features.
That’s on top of new LEGO Fortnite features and skins, Rocket Racing maps, Fortnite Festival maps and more.
