Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 30.00 will be available to download on the morning of May 24. It will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which means you won’t be able to play Fortnite (including LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival and Rocket Racing) for a few hours. If you want to know when you can log back into Fortnite, check out the Chapter 5, Season 3 server downtime schedule below.
Fortnite will be taken offline from 7am BST UK time for a period of extended server downtime maintenance.
With the maintenance period ushering in the launch of Chapter 5, Season 3, fans should expect downtime to last for longer than usual.
The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, alongside a short teaser trailer previewing the post-apocalyptic theme and Fallout crossover.
“Grab the Nitro, buckle up and prepare for Wrecked,” reads an Epic tweet. “Downtime for Ch5 S3 – WRECKED starts at 2:00 AM ET with matchmaking disabled a few minutes prior.”
“Please note: Patch sizes will be larger than usual Season releases. We will let you know when you can begin downloading the update.”
While there’s no official end time listed for the Chapter 5, Season 3 maintenance, the game is expected to be offline until around midday.
Express Online will keep you updated with the latest developments during the server downtime for Chapter 5, Season 3.
The new Fortnite season will feature a crossover with the Fallout series, while Magneto will join the Battle Pass as a new skin.
In addition to the aforementioned crossovers, Fortnite Season 3 will also include collabs with Monster Jam, Fall Guys and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Rumours suggest that we may also get a Kingdom Hearts crossover at some point during the new season.
In terms of new and returning locations, it’s believed that Mount Olympus, Restored Reels and The Underworld will remain part of the Fortnite map.
Fencing Fields will undergo a transformation, as will The Shark, which will be covered in sand.
