Fortnite developer Epic Games has released a new Hotfix update for September 19. The latest Fortnite update unlocks the sixth anniversary birthday event, complete with new items, quests and rewards. According to the patch notes, players can pick up items like Birthday Cake, Birthday Presents, Balloons and the Jump Balloon Reality Augment. The items will remain in the game until update 26.20 hits PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android in the coming weeks.
Epic Games explains more: “Can you believe it? Fortnite Battle Royale is nearly 6 years old, and we’re celebrating the only way we know how — with the hottest of fixes and a bounty of birthday goodies.
“The v26.10 Sep 19 hotfix unvaults a variety of birthday items and brings Birthday Quests you can complete for special cosmetic rewards. Many happy returns!”
As you can see from the patch notes below, Birthday Cake can be consumed to replenish Health and Shield, while Presents contain a selection of items. Balloons, meanwhile, give players a lift into the air.
The birthday celebration also comes with a selection of quests and rewards. Complete one quest to unlock the Birthday Basher Pickaxe, three quests unlocks the Birthday Dash Spray, and five quests unlocks the Slice O’ Six Back Bling.

NEW ITEMS
• BIRTHDAY CAKE
– Who doesn’t love cake? This red velvet delight can be found around the Island and swiftly consumed to recover some Health and Shield.
• BIRTHDAY PRESENTS!
– Aw, you didn’t think we’d forgotten, did you? Scoop up one of these enticing boxes of mystery and unfurl the ribbon (i.e. give it a good smack with your Pickaxe) to find out what lies inside!
– Find Birthday Presents! from the ground and Chests.
• BALLOONS
– Discover one of these deceptively load-bearing inflatables and find yourself immediately more airborne and agile.
– Balloons can be found from the ground (ironically) and Chests.
• JUMP BALLOON REALITY AUGMENT
– Are you above finding Balloons? Activate the new Jump Balloon Reality Augment to get a Balloon automatically when you jump, until you reach the max number of Balloons.
• SHELL SLIDE AUGMENT
– When Shell Slide is activated, you’ll gain Shotgun shells while sliding.
• BLOODHOUND AUGMENT
– With Bloodhound, enemies hit by your DMR shots will be marked for a short duration.

• In tournaments, Balloons are only obtainable from the Jump Balloon Reality Augment.
