Freak show: Antetokounmpo wins NBA Finals MVP

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was named the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player after leading his team to a 4-2 series victory over the host Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.

In the championship-clinching game, Antetokounmpo recorded a playoff career-high 50 points to go along with 14 rebounds and five blocks. He averaged 35.2 points and 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks in the series.

“I want to thank Milwaukee for believing in me,” Antetokounmpo said. “I wanted to do it in this city. I wanted to do it with these guys.”

The 26-year-old Greek forward scored 33 in the second half, including his 50th point on a game-sealing free throw with 9.8 seconds remaining. He was 17 of 19 from the foul line to give the Bucks their first championship since 1971.

Antetokounmpo received the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award after averaging 35.2 points and 13.2 rebounds against Phoenix.
