Gabriela Hearst Threw a Festive, Music-Filled Holiday Soirée at The Carlyle

A festive, holiday cheer was in the air Monday night at Café Carlyle, where New Yorkers gathered for an evening of musical performances inside the legendary supper club of The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel.

The intimate cocktail was thrown by designer Gabriela Hearst and Yola Mezcal, whose three founders—Yola Jimenez, Lykke Li, and Gina Correll Aglietti—were all in high spirits. Yola Mezcal was also celebrating their newly launched Pechuga expression, their first in six years and just their second ever.

“It’s a mezcal that we use for weddings, special occasions, and holidays,” Jimenez, in town from Mexico City, tells Vogue. “We’re gathered as a group of friends of Yola to celebrate it. We’re co-hosting the event with our power Latina woman, Gabriela Hearst, who does the same thing we do—be sustainable and support Latin people.”

After guests like Katie Couric, Tremaine Emory, Justin Theroux, Dustin Yellin, Simon Rex, James Dylan, and Brooke Garber Neidich mingled over signature cocktails like the Yola Martini and Yola Verde, everyone took their seats to enjoy some live music from Monika, Marion Raw, and Cat Power.

After Jimenez took to the stage to speak on her mission to empower women in her hometown, Oaxaca, Hearst also got onstage to inform all guests that sales from December will benefit the Children’s Emergency Fund from Save the Children. “It’s a month to think of others, to really be connected to the human network that knows and understands the suffering,” she said. “To celebrate how lucky we all are that we’re here, the most fun thing to do is to show joy and awareness. Just think this Christmas about helping another human.”

Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson performed their song “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie, which earlier that day garnered a Golden Globe nomination. Ronson also played lead guitar for Lykke Li, who closed out the party with their hit “Late Night Feelings” (which featured on the Gucci Ancora show soundtrack this season) and got everyone up on their feet.
