In November 2023, the nationwide electric vehicle (EV) sales in India, as per Vahan data reached 1,52,610 units. This marked a significant 26% year-on-year increase compared to November 2022, which recorded 1,21,598 units. The figure also came close to the record monthly sales of 1,58,420 units achieved in May 2023. The surge in May was attributed to consumers hurrying to purchase EVs before the reduction in FAME subsidies for the two-wheeler segment starting from June 1.
Furthermore, the cumulative sales of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, encompassing two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles, reached a historic 13,87,114 units in the first 11 months of 2023. This achievement represents robust year-on-year growth of 50%, compared to the corresponding period in 2022, which recorded 9,24,111 units from January to November.
