Running a sweep

Running a World Cup sweep is easy. All you need is our poster above and people who want to play and pay. Below is an example based on a $5 entry fee.

Let’s say you have 32 people who want to play, each person puts $5 in the kitty, and you draw a team’s name (cut from our poster above) from a hat. With $5 to play and 32 people contributing, the total jackpot would be $160.

If the team you draw wins, you should collect 50 per cent of the jackpot (or $80). The person who has the team that comes second would receive 25 per cent of the kitty (or $40), third would collect 15 per cent (or $24), and fourth would get the final 10 per cent ($16).

But note, you can change the percentages to suit or, indeed, you could make your sweep a winner-takes-all event and first placed takes the lot. If you don’t have 32 people, players can pay more to draw out extra countries. Or if you had 16 people then every one would get two teams.

Good luck!
