The cost of obtaining a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate for vehicles in Delhi has risen significantly, by up to 40 percent depending on the vehicle segment and fuel type. For the first time in 13 years, the Delhi government has increased the charges.
Delhi PUC obtaining charges: New prices
Under the new rates, the fee for PUC certificates for petrol, CNG, and LPG two-wheelers and three-wheelers will go up from Rs 60 to Rs 80.For four-wheelers running on the same fuels, the cost will increase from Rs 80 to Rs 110. Diesel vehicle owners will see their PUC charges rise from Rs 100 to Rs 140.
These new prices will come into effect as soon as they are officially notified by the government. That said, it is the right time to get your PUC renewed if it has been pending.
The increase aligns with the Delhi government’s aim to maintain air quality and ensure that all vehicles meet pollution standards. Gahlot noted that the hike addresses the long-standing request of the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association to adjust fees in line with the rising costs of pollution checking services.
“Considering the request from the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association and the fact that pollution checking rates have not been revised since 2011, the Delhi government has announced increasing the rates for pollution checking of vehicles in Delhi,” Gahlot stated.
He added that this revision is necessary for pollution checking stations to operate efficiently and continue providing quality services to the public. Last month, representatives from the association met with Gahlot, pressing for a fee revision. (Inputs from PTI)
