If you don’t know Úrsula Corberó, you will now. The Spanish actor is a worldwide sensation, boasting more than 20 million Instagram followers, a blooming acting career, and a Loewe fragrance campaign. Now Corberó is reaching new heights in her career—literally. The actor is in town for the premiere of Lift, a Netflix heist film that takes place on an airplane and also stars Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Billy Magnussen, among others. It’s her very first premiere in New York City, and she’s bringing Vogue along for the ride.
“Today I’ll be wearing this amazing, beautiful Givenchy dress,” she says, holding up a black strapless tiered dress. Contrasting with her sleek wardrobe, she’s looking to add a little spice to her hair and makeup, citing a grungy ’90s Kate Moss as a reference. “Since we are choosing this elegant and clean silhouette, I would like to match it with something edgier.” The initial operative word of the night was effortless. “I just realized it’s not very effortless,” she says through laughter. “Eight people working on this look? It is not effortless at all!”
“I think Úrsula has different personalities as well,” she says, noting the thrill of exploring many sides through makeup. Though she may be showing her edgy, sexy side tonight—befitting her femme-fatale character, Camila—“I have a cute [side] as well.” She admits that she’s more comfortable being strong and stoic, and while it’s a big part of her personality, she notes that “at the same time [it] could be a sort of armor.”
But rumination will have to wait. “I’m very late,” she says, blowing a kiss to the camera. “Let’s go.”
