Girl suffers head and leg injuries when struck by car in Kingsford

A young child has been taken to hospital with head and leg injuries after she was struck by a car on a major road in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The girl, believed to be aged under 10, was injured at Anzac Pde near Avoca St in Kingsford about 3.30pm.

She was taken via ambulance to Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Authorities have not commented on her condition.

The incident came shortly after a motorbike rider was critically injured in a collision with a bus in nearby Kensington.

The two vehicles came together at the intersection of Alison Rd and Doncaster Ave about 3pm.

The motorbike rider, a man believed to be in his 20s, was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital, where he died.

The 34-year-old bus driver was uninjured and has been taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation has been launched and motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
