Grant Denyer confesses to shedding tears before Logies: ‘I must admit, I had a genuine emotional breakdown’

Grant and Chezzi Denyer have made their grand return to the Logies, with Grant admitting it was “quite emotional” to walk the red carpet once more.

Grant is Logies royalty, a former winner of the Gold Logie in 2018, supported by Chezzi during the victory.

“It’s quite emotional being here,” Grant tells 7Life of the return.

“You know, it still brings back tingles on the back of your neck.

“You know, you kind of want to pretend like it doesn’t mean much, but when it happens, it absolutely does mean the world you.”

Grant explains that in case he lost the award he told himself, “’It doesn’t mean anything’, in case you lose”.

“You go into a self-protective mechanism.

“But to be here with Chez on my arm, she’s an absolute smoke show!”

The Logies is not only emotional for the couple, but an exciting reunion as they return to the city to see former colleagues and industry friends.

The couple is currently living in Bathurst, NSW with their three children, Scout, Sailor and Sunday.

“Oh, I feel like catching up with all the old Sunrise crew for sure,” Chezzi, who was a former producer of the breakfast show, says.

“But also we just saw Patrick Brammall and I got a serious man crush.”

“Big fan,” Grant agreed of the Australian actor.

After celebrating during the ceremony, the couple is ready to dance the night away at the after-party.

Chezzi says that “something Shania Twain” would get her on the dancefloor.

“Well, when you have won Dancing With The Stars twice, you can’t wait for that dance floor to crack open,” Grant joked.

“First one on the dance floor and last one on there.”

He memorably took home the Mirror Ball trophy in both 2022 and 2006.
