An Alberta man is facing extortion and other charges after a man in Halton was allegedly coerced online into sending money.

Halton Regional Police say, in December 2022, they received information that a suspect was using various social media platforms to coerce the male victim into sending money.

Police allege the suspect obtained intimate images of the victim and then threatened to distribute the images online if payment was not made.
Authorities launched an eight-month investigation which identified the suspect living in Alberta.

On Wednesday, with the assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Drumheller, the suspect was arrested.
Brandon Bulechowsky, 25, of Drumheller, has been charged with extortion, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with probation.
Cops say the accused used social media profile names Emily_jauntyy07 on Snapchat and Emily_jauntyy on Instagram.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
