(WKBN) – Former professional wrestler Harold Hogue, who went by Ice Train and M.S. Smooth in the ring, has died at 56, according to multiple reports.
WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) announced on Facebook Tuesday that Hogue had passed away, calling him “a warrior and one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”
Hogue never wrestled for WWE, but he did wrestle for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) throughout the 1990s. During his WCW career, he competed against legends that include Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) and The Steiner Brothers.
“I just heard the devastating news that our longtime friend and Wrestling Superstar Harold Houge (sic) aka Ice Train passed away. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read this and immediately called [Diamond Dallas Page] and he confirmed what I was seeing was in fact real,” former WWE wrestler Marc “Johnny B. Badd” Mero wrote on X. “This really hits home as he was truly one of the good guys … My heart goes out to his wife and kids and his numerous fans. Heartbroken… RIP our amazing friend.”
Hogue even shared the ring with the man who would later become “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Hogue teamed with Ron Simmons to square off with The Hollywood Blonds (Steve Austin and Brian Pillman) in 1993.
“Our 30 year relationship was filled with laughter & brotherhood,” Page wrote, calling Hogue one of his “closest brothers.” “We were always there for each other. Our families are one family.”
Hogue wrestled for WCW in separate stints until 2001 when the company was purchased by the WWE.
Page added that the family would be issuing a statement shortly, and asked people to respect their privacy.
A cause of death has not been revealed.
