The Centennial edition will be sold via auction, but this auction will not be open to the general public. The company will only extend an invitation to its own employees, business partners and stakeholders. The bidding price is also not announced and it remains to be seen how much the Centennial eventually costs. Hero MotoCorp said that proceeds from this bike’s auction will be utilised for ‘the greater good of society’. The deliveries of this special edition bike are slated to commence in September.
The Centennial Edition was conceptualised, designed and developed by Hero’s teams at the Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in India and Tech Centre in Germany. The Hero Centennial Edition is built to commemorate the 101st birth anniversary of the company’s founder Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal. This edition will be limited to just 100 units and is based on the Karizma XMR platform.
The bike features carbon fibre bodywork with a single seat setup. It also gets a 43mm upside down fork and a Wilbers monoshock at rear and a carbon fibre exhaust muffler from Akrapovic. It also gets all-black alloy wheels wrapped up in MRF tyres. The Centennial Edition has a 158kg kerb weight, about 5.5kg lighter than the Karizma XMR.
