Light manufacturer Hobolite, known for its stylish lights like the Micro LED, has announced new versions of its existing Avant and Mini lights, the Avant Max and the Mini Max, promising 80 and 40 watts of light, respectively.
Like Hobolite’s other products, including earlier versions of the Avant and Mini, the new versions sport a classic, vintage aesthetic paired with modern LED lighting technology.
The Avant Max is a bi-color continuous LED with 80W of luminance. It promises consistent color performance across its power range and spectrum. The light has a >96 CRI/TLCI, and its color temperature is adjustable from 2,700 to 6,500 K.
The light also comes with a detachable, magnetic, quick-release focusing lens that can effectively boost brightness up to 3.5 times for situations when power is paramount. It also works with magnetic light modifiers, including barn doors, color gels, a frosted dome, and more.
Maximum illumination with the lens is 9,005 lux at one meter and 2,568 lux without it. The intensity is adjustable from 0 to 100% using onboard controls or a connected smartphone and Hobolite’s app. The light includes a built-in fan to ensure consistent performance over long periods, even at high brightness.
“The Avant Max is a testament to our belief that ‘if it can be imagined, it can be created.’ It is designed for passionate individuals who view their work as an extension of their identity, and it empowers them to push the limits of their creativity and imagination,” says Hobolite’s founder and CEO, Helena Bian.
The Avant Max is powered by a new 99Wh V-Mount battery, which is compatible with Hobolite’s existing Avant 100W and Pro 300W lights. The light can also be powered via direct AC power, which accepts USB-C power delivery. The light can deliver 100% output for 78 minutes when using the battery. The Avant Max weighs 2.02 pounds (0.91 kilograms).
The Mini Max is the smaller of the two new Hobolite Max lights, weighing 1.53 pounds (0.69 kilograms). As expected, the Mini Max has less light output due to its smaller size and weight. The 40-watt light delivers 7,325 lux at one meter with the adjustable lens attached and 1,414 lux without it. Like its larger sibling, the CRI and TLCI are rated for greater than 96, and the color temperature ranges from 2,700 to 6,500 K.
The Mini Max also works with the new V-Mount battery, but the battery life is better since it’s a less powerful light. The light can operate at 100% brightness for two hours and 18 minutes. It can also be powered via AC and USB-C POD, or using the Max LiteDock.
The LiteDock Power Bank is a handle with a ballhead that features a built-in 3,450mAh battery and USB port to provide power delivery to the light. This powered handle also works with the Hobolite Micro LED, by the way.
Like the Avant Max, the Mini Max works with magnetic light modifiers and is compatible with Hobolite’s smartphone app.
“The Mini Max ensures that your creative flow remains uninterrupted, providing convenience at your fingertips,” says Bian. “Its elegant design, powerful output, and adaptability make it an essential everyday carry for content creators to light their story with intention.”
“Our new Max series underscores our belief that ‘if it can be imagined, it can be created,’” Bian adds.
