(Image: Pixabay) San Francisco: The highly anticipated mobile version of Meta’s social virtual reality (VR) platform, Horizon Worlds, may be launched soon. According to Janko Roettgers’ Lowpass newsletter, Meta executives previously stated that they were planning to launch a mobile app for Horizon Worlds. Now, Meta’s metaverse VP Vishal Shah revealed that the company had actually developed a functional version of the app a year ago. “However, we decided not to release it,” said Shah. “It leaned more towards being a VR game on mobile rather than a native mobile experience,” he added. Shah stated that the app has been completely rebuilt by the Horizon team. The exact launch date of the app has not been disclosed to Roettgers. Shah mentioned that the first game to be beta tested on mobile will be the first-person shooter game ‘Super Rumble’. He also promised that mobile users will be able to interact with VR users through cross-platform play. “We are shifting from being VR only to being VR first,” Shah added. Earlier this week, the company released a new ‘v120’ update for Horizon Worlds, which includes quests and rewards for all users, as well as a new quick actions menu to Pause and more. Last month, Meta introduced a new text-based ‘world chat’ feature, allowing users to communicate with others in the same world session using text. Additionally, users can now @mention others in world chat who are in the same world. Stay up-to-date with the latest updates. Subscribe to our newsletter today! Subscribe Now
