HORSESHOE BEACH, Fla. (WCJB) – As of now, Horseshoe Beach residents are still waiting for an update on the storm before packing their things up.
Idalia which was a category three hurricane hit Horseshoe Beach very hard.
Many houses, buildings, cars, and more were destroyed in the storm last year.
The last thing the residents in this area want is another big storm like this.
“There are still a lot of people out here that are suffering with PTSD you know we lost half our house but people here lost way more than we did and it’s sad,” said Horseshoe local, Renee McConaughey.
“We are very afraid and know surge will do and it will destroy,” said Brooke Hiers, Horseshoe Beach Town Council Member.
Horseshoe Beach residents are hopeful flooding won’t come with the storm due to the potential rainfall that might be coming within the next few days.
Some residents say they will move out of the area if it reaches to a category two hurricane, but they are hopeful that it will not get to that point.
So far Dixie County authorities have not issued any evacuation notices.
As of now, residents are putting positive thoughts out there before worrying about the potential cyclone.
