Bricker Builds announces a new replica of Captain America’s vibranium shield, made from nearly 3000 LEGO bricks.
Bricker Builds announced a brand-new model of Captain America’s shield, made entirely from LEGO bricks.
The shield weighs around 110 oz (3.2 kg) and measures 24″ (608mm) in diameter, retaining accuracy to its counterpart in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The build features the Avenger’s signature red, white and blue colors sporting the star in the middle and can either be worn or displayed.
Bricker Builds has tested over half a dozen straps from Amazon to attach to the shield once complete. The wrist and forearm straps allow Cap’s shield to be wielded, and Bricker Builds has also researched the best stand to purchase in order to display the finished piece.
Cap’s shield requires 2,904 LEGO bricks. Bricker Builds supplies a tutorial on how to order LEGO bricks for newcomers. A detailed instruction manual for the shield is available on its website for $30, which includes a PDF instruction manual, parts list file and links to the straps and stand on Amazon.
The life-sized replica is said to be durable and able to take a punch. Bricker Builds mentioned that the model is sturdy enough to receive a swing from Thor’s Hammer, referring to the company’s previous design of Mjolnir.
Bricker Builds is known for its true scale replicas and large character sculptures, including the aforementioned Thor’s Hammer and the Spider-Man Advanced Suit Bust, joining Cap’s shield in the Marvel-inspired line. A life-sized Boba Fett Helmet, DC-17 Blaster Pistol, Darth Maul Bust and more are included in the Star Wars line, accompanying a handful of lightsaber replicas. A life-sized Pikachu and Eevee from the Pokemon franchise are also available to build.
The Bricker Builds team is made up of experienced designers and artists. It should be noted that the company is not affiliated with The LEGO Group. Each replica is firstly created as a 3D model using Bricker software, which is then translated into a real-life build. Designers then use Bricklink Studio to turn the process into accurate and user-friendly instructions, combined with a cost-effective plan to acquire all of the necessary parts. Bricker Builds estimates that the cost of Captain America’s shield lands somewhere between $185 – 265.
