“McDonald’s sells birthday cakes?!” Bec said in a now-viral Instagram video.

The iconic ice cream cakes were typically served at McDonald’s birthday parties in the 90s and 2000s.

“So my birthday is coming up and it started triggering old memories of McDonald’s birthday parties,” Bec said.

“If you didn’t have a McDonald’s birthday party, you must not have grown up in Australia because they were iconic. And then I remembered McDonald’s birthday cakes… like the ice cream cakes.

“Did you get one of those? Because I definitely did. I thought, do they still sell those? So let’s find out.”

She filmed herself ordering the cake with 15 serves at Drive-Thru.

“Hi I was just wondering if I could get a birthday ice cream cake? Or if you sell those, still?” Bec can be heard saying to an employee.

Much to her surprise, she was handed the frozen dessert in a box.

“Oh my god, they had it,” she said, showing the receipt as proof of purchase.

“It doesn’t even have McDonald’s packaging but the employee handed me the box and he’s like, ‘I’ve never seen anyone get this before’.”

As she enjoyed the ice cream cake in her car, Bec described the dessert as “pretty solid”.

“When I was a kid, I hated cake, I don’t know why, that’s such an unusual thing (to hate) but all I ever wanted was ice cream cake. Ice cream cake is elite,” she recalled.

“Happy birthday to me even though my birthday isn’t in a month’s time. It’s never too early to celebrate.

“Now I’ve got ice cream sorted after dinner over the next couple of months.”

Her video has been viewed more than 120,000 times – with many tempted to order the cake at Macca’s.

“This is AMAZING,” one suggested.

Another recalled: “Yes omg I miss those parties.”

While one shared: “As a teen at school I used to host the birthday parties at my local Macca’s! I loved it, my shift consisted of playing games, going in the jungle gym and eating birthday cake.”

Many pointed out the same ice cream party cake is sold at Coles and Woolworths for $14.

Some shared their excitement on Reddit after discovering the cake at Macca’s.

“Why was this always so exciting? An 80s-early 90s birthday wasn’t complete without one of these,” one said.

Another revealed: “I still have it every year on my birthday.”

One added: “Every time I get asked what cake I want for my birthday. It’s this. I’m also 40.”
