NSW residents can now check in and prove their COVID-19 vaccination status at the same time using the Service NSW app.

The handy feature has been rolled out state-wide after being trialled at bars, restaurants, gyms and cafes in regional areas over the last week.

“This is an extra digital service to make life easier for the businesses and customers of NSW as we open back up,” Minister for Digital and Customer Service Victor Dominello said on Friday.

“When someone visits a venue, they’ll be able to show their green check-in tick and vaccination status simultaneously, saving staff and customers time.”

In order to use the new feature, you’ll first need to link your proof of vaccination with the Service NSW App.

How to link your COVID vaccine certificate to the Service NSW app

  • Ensure your Federal MyGov account is linked to Medicare
  • Download the Express Plus Medicare app and sign in with your MyGov account details
  • Select ‘Proof of vaccinations’ and then ‘View history’
  • Select ‘Share with check in app’ and then ‘Service NSW’

It comes as NSW closes in on the 80 per cent fully vaccinated target, which will trigger a further easing of restrictions as early as Monday 18 October.

Among the new freedoms would be allowing groups of 20 people to gather in homes, excluding children, and up to 50 people can congregate outdoors.

Schools would reopen and community sport would recommence, while more people will be allowed into gyms, hospitality venues and pubs.

Masks will also no longer be required at the office.

However regional travel is likely to be pushed back until November 1.
